Mayte was born and raised in the small northern city of Soria, Spain and began her studies at the St.Jorge University of Fine Art in Barcelona. She completed a BFA from San Fernando University in Madrid. After teaching high school art she moved to the US in 1979 and took courses in ceramics and silkscreening. She worked professionally as a designer for an art company and now as a freelance artist. She is best known for her textured landscapes.
